Cirque de Navacelles, tourisme éco responsable

The aim of « Nature getaways without a car » is to show that it is easy to explore the multiple facets of emblematic natural sites by leaving your car at home. This year the project is going even further by offering an itinerary that incorporates the 3 Grand Heritage Sites of the Cœur d’Hérault (The Cirque de Navacelles, the Gorges de l’Hérault and The Salagou-Cirque de Mourèze), by bringing together people that are committed to preserving the countryside and practicing sustainable tourism.

Immerse yourself gently as you pass through different landscapes

Feel the changing rhythm of the landscape as you pass from one Grand Site to another: the arid plateaux of the Cirque de Navacelle, to the red earth of the Lac du Salagou, to the greenery of the Gorges de l’Hérault. As you follow paths through the middle of nowhere or through villages, take the time to discover and to meet the men and women who are only too happy to share with you the particular identity of their territory and who will welcome you at any time of the year. Let yourself be guided by Philippe and his friends, as well as Marika and Medhi, who set out without a car to explore the multiple facets of these three exceptional landscapes that are so close geographically. You can read the narrative of their journey on the site www.escapadenature-sansvoiture.fr

Tourism that imparts values

The Grand Sites of France are preserved landscapes that are known to all. They are places where you can get back to your roots, and have been singled out due to the quality of their landscapes and the sustainable way in which they are managed. It is the special care given to preserving them that forms the basis of the experiences they try to offer and of the core values they wish to impart, those of wonder, renewal, meeting and sharing. The narrative on the site, which covers all aspects of the journey from places to stay and eat, to hiking and biking paths etc. shares these values. Its aim is to highlight a new and gentler way of travelling, that involves a complete immersion in remarkable landscapes in the off-season, and off the beaten track. The effects benefit the whole territory. « Nature getaways without a car » fits completely with the commitment of the Grand Sites de France network and that of its members, to a move towards more sustainable transport and tourism, without cars.
