Maps and trail descriptions "Cirque de Mourèze" and "Les Vailhès"

Cirque de Mourèze
Salagou

On and around the lake

Surrounded by an undulating landscape of red rock composed of clay enriched with iron oxide, called “ruffes”, the classified site of Lake Salagou offers a vast range of leisure activities: water sports, hiking, horse riding, mountain biking, fishing or just relaxing!

The village of Mourèze

Near the lake is the village of Mourèze, built at the edge of a vast dolomite amphitheater. The limestone has been eroded to form strangely shaped columns and natural sculptures. For those who are curious, you can follow marked footpaths around the cirque.

The Salagou-Cirque de Mourèze site is a “Grand Site” in the making, which means that a policy of sustainable development has been undertaken so that it can attain the label “Grand Site de France”.
